Your Party Planning Checklist: How to Forget Nothing

Whether you’re having a little holiday get-together or a casino night party, you’re going to need to have a party planning checklist to make sure everything gets done. Otherwise, you run the risk of forgetting something, making a crucial mistake, or worse.

Here’s the party planning help you need.

One Month Before
Yes, you should start planning your party about a month ahead of time. While you’re still in this preliminary stage, you should figure out all the logistics: the date, the time, the guest list, the theme, the budget, and things that can make the party really special. For example, you might decide to do a casino theme party, since you know that more than 36.7 million people visit Las Vegas every year. You also know that about 40 million people play poker regularly and that 140 countries in the world have casinos that offer blackjack, so you decide to set up those two games for your party.

Two Weeks Before
In the weeks leading up to the party, be sure to make and send out invitations, rent or buy anything you might need (tables, chairs, etc.), source and order your party favors, and plan the menu. You’d also be wise to prepare anything that can be frozen ahead of time. About a week before the party, you should also follow up with any guests that haven’t RSVP’d yet.

The Day Of
The night of your party, you should do the prep work for your menu, cutting and dicing any and all vegetables, preparing sauces. That morning, set up the bar, slice the garnishes, marinate the meat, and do a run through to make sure everything is clean and in order. Then, enjoy the party.
